Frequently Asked Questions
I want to write a review on a destination in _________ (Asia, Africa, etc.). Why is your focus limited to Canada, USA, Mexico, Dominican and Cuba?
The Canadian Traveler is a new concept. We have chosen to focus our attention specifically on the areas mentioned in an effort to build quality content on these locations. Once these areas get up and running we will expand the review offerings.
Why are there no star ratings for the resorts?
Star ratings can vary from carrier to carrier, etc. and are set through a number of industry assessments, standards, etc. Although these are useful in making comparisons, in sticking with the user driven concept of this site we are letting our users decide the ratings of each resort through voting in the rating polls associated with it. The four polling areas are overall quality, quality of beach, food/drink/service (hospitality), and value for money.
The hotel/resort/destination that I want to write/read a review for is not listed, what should I do?
There are a number of reasons this could be the case. We might have missed it, or the resort may be fairly new. Additionally, resorts in popular destinations are often changing names, etc. Either way, we encourage you to contact us, and we'll look into it for you.
Why is there less detail on North American destinations? I want to enter information on a specific hotel, etc.
The honest answer here is that it is just way too labour intensive to list all the hotels on the continent. The focus of this site is, for the most part, on travel abroad and as such each hotel in Canada and the US just is not worth listing. However, we encourage you to specifically mention hotels, attractions, etc. in your review and these will be searchable by users looking for information on these specific locations.
